When A Political Legend Dies
Sen. Ted Kennedy, the last member of America’s equivalent to a royal family, has died of brain cancer last night. While he and many other Kennedys have been surrounded by death, tragedy and controversy, now is not the time to focus on those ills.
Let us remember the longest living of the Kennedy brothers for his contribution to America.
Let us remember his hard work on civil rights, healthcare and immigration.
Let us remember his hard work for families, abortion rights and the economy.
While many may not have agreed entirely with Ted Kennedy’s nearly 47 years of political experience and leadership, no one can deny that the 77-year-old Massachusetts senator did what he thought was best for his country.
And in the end, that’s all we can ask from our elected leaders.
Rest in peace, senator and enjoy your long-sought reunion with your family. You have earned it.
