N.J. Governor Gets
Smackdown From Voters

The Devil has been seen ice skating to work today as news that Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine lost to Republican challenger, Chris Christie, is being spread far and wide.

What do you think of the N.J. governor's race? poll 0 votes for Jon Corzine, 1 vote for Chris Christie, 0 vote for don't care and 0 vote for glad it's over

Many thought that New Jersey, a traditional Democratic stronghold, and the recent appearances of the Donkey’s party leader, President Barack Obama, would mean smooth sailing for the multimillionaire.

But Corzine’s little boat sank when he discovered you just can’t buy your way into politics again. However, the old past time will always be here to stay. Sadly.

But as Corzine found out, voters can make you or break you and Jersey voters are tougher than most.

Hell, Jersey politics isn’t the typical politics that most states get to enjoy. During election season, most states get to say, “May the best person win,” but not the Garden State.

Jersey politics is dirtier and punches below the belt by candidates are not only expected but encouraged by party supporters.

So for the past couple of weeks, New Jerseyans had to endure (enjoy?) a fight between Corzine and Christie that would have made Rocky proud. And in the end, many will be surprised that a Republican won.

Because while many New Jerseyans complain about their political leaders, they usually end up voting for the same bums over and over again. But not this time and that’s really saying something. Maybe Corzine offered one too many unpopular proposals that made New Jerseyans finally decide to play for the other team.

Sure, Christie may not be better than Corzine, but at least he’ll offer a whole new set of problems for New Jerseyans to complain about. Because if there’s one thing that New Jerseyans do better than anyone else it’s complaining about politicians.

So, Christie, you may have defeated a seemingly unstoppable foe in Corzine but he’s nothing compared to disgruntled New Jersey voters.

Just because they love you now doesn’t mean they’ll feel warm and fuzzy come your next election.
